The content of Al-Fatihah
Actually, a lot of posts that talk about the interpretation of this letter. If you enter a keyword such as heading over to it like a google search, so many links that talk about the letter Alfatihah. Well, in this article I will also be discussing the interpretation of surah Al-Fatihah. But it would be a little (just a little) it is different, because this article would like to give the discussion of Al-Fatiha from the other side. I got this article from the results of translating the original text in Arabic. One of the sources I use are writing on this site and a book of commentary "shofwatu at-tafaasir" by Muhammad Ali Ash-Shabuniy. Happy reading!
Naming
Surat Al-Fatihah is a classified letter letter makiyyah (revealed in Makkah) with paragraph 7 by ijma 'ulama. Regarding the difference of opinion among scholars about whether lafadz basmalah is one verse in surah Al-Fatihah or not, will not be discussed here.
From the literature that I use as a reference, there are some other name or title for this letter other than Al-Fatihah. One of the
great scholar, al-Qurthubiy, said that it has 12 names, including the Alfatihah (opening = الفاتحة), Umm al-kitaab (Parent أم الكتاب Quran =), as-sab'u al-matsaniy (seven repeat = المثانى السبع), ash-syafiyah (healer = الشافية), al-waafiyah (adequate = الوافية), al-kaafiyah (quite = الكافية), al-asaas (principles, basic = الأساس), and al-hamdu (praise = الحمد).
Naming is not necessarily come naturally, but there are underlying reasons why this letter has many names. He also has given a name to this letter as disebutkandalam Bukhari hadeeth below.
From Abu Sa'eed al-Mu'alla said, I pray in the middle of the mosque, and the Messenger of Allah called me, and I will answer his call. I said: O Messenger of Allah, I was praying. He said: Was not Allah says: "O you who believe, fulfill the call of God and an apostle apostle calls call you to a life-giving to you". Then he said to me: "I'm really going to teach you some of the greatest letters in the Qur'an before you get out of the mosque". Then he held my hand. When he wanted to get out, I said to him, would not you say teach me one of the greatest letters in the Qur'an? He said: Al-hamdulillah Rabbi al-alamin ", he was seven verses are repeated and the great Qur'an given to me. (Bukhari)
Surat al-Fatihah is called because it is situated at the beginning of the Quran. If we analogize to a book, at the opening of a book, usually described globally about the content of the book. So is the Quran. The entire contents of the content of the Quran, the outline described in the letter consists of 7 verses. Therefore, Al-Fatihah is also named as Umm al-kitaab, Parent Quran.
In addition, al-Fatihah is also referred to as as-sab'u al-matsaniy which means seven repeated. It was due to this letter is one of the pillars of prayer. Every time we pray, this letter shall be read, because it is a pillar in the prayer. Alfatihah also known as a healer or medicine (ash-Syafiyah), ruqyah, as mentioned in the hadith narrated by Imam Al-Bukhari, Sahih within no. 5749 book chapter Ath-Tibb An-Nafats fir Ruqyah (hadith is not included, if you want to read it can refer to
